Some of these days sitting in my chair
I sit alone with my ears filled with my phones
My iPhone blistering the sound of some Nashville beat
I wonder what we wonder
Us humans looking into the pondering view
Life flies by on the computer screen
While the world outside stands freezing
Frozen waiting for us to greet it from the light in our eyes
Sitting at the bus stop waiting for that #7 bus
Waiting for a soul to strike up some convo
Perhaps we're all waiting for that soul
To make beauty in our hearts and minds
Kind of like the days when we dug in the sand
Walked on the monkey bars like superheroes
Bounced balls in four square
Can you see us there?
Our bikes took us everywhere
To the edges of the sky
The sun so bright before it was darkened in our eyes
Hiding behind our shades
When we hoped, we hoped for that dance
With that pretty girl over there
Too scared to walk across that floor
Crazy in love with that boy
You know who he is
The one that made your heart skip when
He looked out over a crowd to find your smile
Embarrassed you giggled with your friends
Grabbed the wrong book for your class
But it didn't matter, he found you in the crowd
Have we tamed ourselves to forgo the light of our dreams
Will we keep the clouded darkness of our hearts
Because of the fear we feel some days
Are we comfortable with that simple stream
Or is the raging river teeming with vibrant rainbows
Flitting across our soul dashing out our toes
Too inflamed that it makes us turn away
To stand on the shore amidst these some days
Will we be the kid who hopes he isn't picked last
And scoffs at those who aren't picked at all
The world awaits a symphony
Will we play an instrument making music without the notes on the page
Let's not get caught in these some days
Looking out at the crowd
Pass a trumpet or saxophone along
Blast a sliding trombone melody
And make it the air of incredible sounds
Cranking it to eleven
Everyone awaits every one of us
The short of us, the fat of us, the parts of us that cuss
Every one has a chance to wipe away the fuss and bustle
And clear the way for a beautiful incandescent May day
Proposing bright colorful flowers in wondrous hue
Bringing into view the beautiful
These some days are not just some days
They are the days that make it great
To be alive, to be here, to be where we are
And shine a star out of our hearts
Warm up the frozen windows and look into another's soul
They're eyes looking back at ours
We all hope for that returning stare
Where a flare jumps off the face of the sun
And leaps us out of these some days
We all want to be loved, appreciated and not underestimated
We all want to believe that there's hope
That our loved ones, family, friends and strangers push all in
And make it great to be human in this day
Be human
Make these some days
Better than the days behind
So the days forward make us wish we didn't have to rewind
To make up time lost
Every second, every breath we take
Shoots from our lungs the songs of life
Sing it from the rooftops in rock 'n' roll zeal
That these some days are more than just days
In a life where we think we are forgotten
This day is life, a chance to restart
The sun came back around because there's hope in this day
For light to enter our hearts, rekindle our passions
To live and beat a path on this journey
A journey that doesn't simply end with a marker at our heads
With some fanciful one liner that doesn't define us
Let's make this more than just some days
